During the second innings of the Leicestershire, Azad was given out stump by the square-leg umpire following the appeal made by Hampshire's wicket-keeper Lewis McManus. The batsman walked off but the replays showed that the wicketkeeper had clipped the bails from his left hand despite having the ball in his right hand.

According to the laws of cricket, a batsman will be given out stumped only if the wicket-keeper has dislodged the bails with the same arm or hand he is holding the ball in.

The incident was followed by Leicestershire's coach Paul Nixon discussing and expressing his disappointment with the match referee Stuart Cummings.

Even the former England captain Michael Vaughan expressed his disappointment and described it as "very poor".

England and Wales Cricket Board(ECB) were contacted by Leicestershire Cricket Club - a matter which is taken "very seriously" by the board.

"Leicestershire CCC has been in contact with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) already and are fully aware that the ECB is taking this matter very seriously," read Leicestershire's official statement.

After Azad's dismissal, Leicestershire was bundled out for 305 in the second innings and lost the match to Hampshire by an innings and 105 runs.
