Mohammad Hafeez ended his 18-year long career as he announced his retirement from international cricket
Pakistan's star all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez ended his 18-year long career as he announced his retirement from international cricket on Monday, via a press conference.
The 41-year-old played 55 tests, 218 ODIs, and 119 T20Is for Pakistan where he scored 12780 runs. Hafeez retired from Tests in 2018 and wasn't picked in ODIs after the 2019 World Cup, but he continued to be an integral part of the T20I squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2021 T20 World Cup in November.

'Professor', as he is known, led Pakistan to the 2012 World T20 semi-final. He was also the captain when Pakistan, for the first time, crashed out of the group stage in the 2014 edition. His overall T20I record as captain stands at 18 wins and 11 losses from 29 matches.

Hafeez bowled off-spin as well but his impact as a spinner began to diminish after he had to remodel his action in the latter part of his career.

Hafeez will continue to be part of franchise cricket. His next assignment will be in PSL where he will be seen playing for Lahore Qalandars.
