Team India would try to tie the 3-match series 1-1 while hosts New Zealand would eye a 2-0 win as these two teams face off in the 3rd T20I at Christchurch.

NZ vs IND 3rd ODI: Match Preview:

Due to persistent rain, the 2nd ODI was called off after just 12.5 overs in the first innings, where India were batting. Now, hosts New Zealand would look to take benefit of home conditions and seal the series with a win in the 3rd ODI. Tom Latham and captain Kane Williamson stepped up with the bat in the 1st ODI, where Latham scored a swashbuckling ton while Williamson scored a crucial 94*.

Other NZ batters, Finn Allen (22), Devon Conway (24) and Daryl Mitchell (11) failed to score big as New Zealand had lost their top 3 wickets early in the 1st ODI. These batters would look to get amongst runs to register a series win against India.

While Tim Southee and Lockie Ferguson grabbed three wickets each with the ball, Southee conceded more than 70 runs in his 10 overs and his economy would be a concern. Adam Milne also grabbed a wicket in the 1st ODI while Matt Henry and Mitchell Santner remained wicket-less. 

In the 1st ODI, Indian openers started the innings well enough as Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill added 124 runs for the 1st wicket. Gill scored 50 runs while Dhawan scored 72 runs. In the 2nd ODI, Dhawan was dismissed early after the overs were reduced to 4.5 overs into the game due to rain. Gill however looked good on the crease with his 45*. 

Suryakumar Yadav, who failed to perform in the 1st ODI, was a treat to watch in his 25-ball unbeaten knock in the 2nd ODI, where he smacked 2 fours & 3 sixes to score 34 runs. Since Sanju Samson was benched in the 2nd ODI to accommodate a sixth bowling option, all eyes would be on Rishabh Pant to perform and break his disappointing run. Shreyas Iyer top scored for team India in the 1st ODI and would be expected to come out well given his excellent record in ODIs in New Zealand. 

However, bowling will remain a huge concern for team India. With no experienced pacers, only Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik constitute the pace department along with Deepak Chahar, who was brought in for Shardul Thakur in the 2nd ODI. In the 1st ODI, Arshdeep conceded 68 runs in just 8.1 overs and would look to leave this debut performance behind. Yuzvendra Chahal will look to get amongst wickets in the middle overs, while Washington Sundar was impressive in his 0-42 in 10 overs in the 1st ODI.
