Mumbai, May 20 (IANS) Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Anurag Thakur on Wednesday played down the controversy stirred by Virat Kohli when he met his girlfriend Bollywood star Anushka Sharma during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match, saying no player is above the game.

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Kohli met Anushka in the stands at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during a rain-break against Delhi Daredevils on Sunday, violating IPL's anti-corruption code.

"According to IPL guidelines, the anti-corruption unit issues a notice and they demand explanations. We did whatever we needed to. No player is bigger than the game. Whatever the rules of the game say, the investigation happen according to it," Thakur said at a press conference.

Kohli is set to lead India in the lone Test to be played in Bangladesh next month.
