Nothing can be truer than 'Sport is nothing without the fans' saying. Do sports make fans or the fans make sports is a point to discuss but one thing is for sure, both are cannot remain without each other for a long time.

The last two years have been tough for the fans as they haven't really got to join their teams at the ground to support them due to the pandemic. However, it has been more difficult for Sri Lanka which is not only battling the pandemic but a massive economic crisis in the country.

Sri Lankan national team is currently hosting the Australian under these circumstances. There were several meetings between the boards of the two countries on whether Sri Lanka could host an all-format international tour and they were confident that they could.

The tour got underway on 7th June with three-match T20I series and Sri Lanka lost the first two games at Colombo which had a packed crowd. They fought and fought hard to win but couldn't and then they moved to Pallekele for the final T20I.

Sri Lanka was once again under the pump when they got six down in the 16 overs with still 65 runs left to chase and in the final three overs, 59 runs to be chased. That's when the Sri Lankan captain stepped up and chased down the remaining runs in the next 17 balls.

Even though Sri Lanka lost the T20I series 2-1, that one solitary win meant a lot more to the host nation than Australia.

Dasun Shanaka bowed down to the crowd and dedicated the win to them. The young generation of Sri Lanka passionately celebrated the win together. For a while, they forgot whatever was happening outside that stadium. That win was for everyone who was fighting the battle in Sri Lanka.
