1992 ICC World Cup - An Introduction

The 1992 ICC Cricket World Cup (also known as Benson and Hedges Cricket World Cup) was the fifth edition of the tournament. For the first time, it was jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand between 22 February to 25 March 1992. Pakistan beat England by 22 runs in the final at Melbourne Cricket Ground to lift the World Cup Trophy.

Nine countries participated in the event. South Africa had been allowed to re-join the International Cricket Council as a Test-playing nation after the end of apartheid.

The group system was changed and all the team played against each other in the preliminary round. Top 4 teams qualified for the knock out stage of Semi-finals and final.

Total 9 teams participated in 1993 World cup.
