After a dominant win in the 1st ODI, home team Pakistan were routed in the 2nd ODI. Chasing 256 to win in the 1st match, Fakhar Zaman (56), Babar Azam (66) and Mohammad Rizwan (77*) contributed with fifties. However, with a target of 262 runs in the 2nd ODI, only Babar Azam (79) managed to score a fifty amongst Pakistanis as they were restricted to 182 runs in 43 overs. 

Pakistan bowlers have been performing well on flat surfaces. Naseem Shah has been the top bowler for Pakistan with 5 and 3 wickets in the two matches respectively, while all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz stepped up with 4 wickets in the 2nd game. Spinner Usama Mir has picked up 3 wickets in the series.

For New Zealand, none of the batters managed to score a fifty in the first ODI. Tom Latham (42) and Michael Bracewell (43) missed out on their half-centuries while Daryl Mitchell (36) and Glenn Phillips (37) also contributed handsomely. Devon Conway scored big in the 2nd ODI as he scored 101 runs in 92 balls while Kane Williamson (85) scored a fifty as the rest of the batters scored in single digits. Mitchell Santner scored 37 runs to contribute lower down the order. 

Kiwi bowlers had a dry outing in the first ODI with Bracewell picking up 2 wickets and Tim Southee and Glenn Phillips managed 1 wicket each. In the second ODI, the bowling unit stepped up as a unit – Tim Southee and Ish Sodhi picked up 2 wickets each while Lockie Ferguson, Mitchell Santner, Michael Bracewell and Glenn Phillips managed 1 wicket each.
