His wife, Sasha, is expected to deliver the baby anytime during 2nd or 3rd test match. Given the strict bio-bubble conditions, de Kock might leave after the first test match, which finishes on 30th December 2021.

South Africa's selection convener Victor Mpitsang said that he expects de Kock to miss the last test, as reported in ESPNcricinfo.
With de Kock missing any of the final two tests, one of Kyle Verreynne and Ryan Rickelton will be replacing him as the wicketkeeper-batter. While Verreynne made his test debut in June earlier this year, Rickelton is yet to don his test cap.
