MI vs RR IPL 2022: In the 9th match of IPL 2022 between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals, 19-year old Tilak Varma played an explosive knock as he smacked 61 runs in 33 balls with 5 sixes and 3 fours. The Rajasthan Royals' youngster targeted experienced and ace Indian spinner R Ashwin. The batter was seen at various points taking on the off-spinner.

Tilak Varma first smacked a flat-six against Ashwin and troubled the experienced bowler. When these two came face to face again, the RR batter played a reverse sweep shot and dispatched the ball into the stands. Ashwin seemed dismayed after getting a thrashing by the youngster.

However, R Ashwin had the final say in this battle and after getting smacked for a six, Ashwin bowled Tilak Varma on the 2nd delivery and displayed real aggression after dismissing the batter. On the second ball of the 14th over, Ashwin bowled a conventional off-break bowl which did the job. The slower delivery received grip from the surface and minutely sneaked through Tilak Varma's bat who was in an effort to slog sweep the ball. Tilak Varma was looking in dangerous form and had he not been dismissed, the result of the match could've been different.

It seemed like Ashwin was taking out his anger of getting thrashed earlier with his scream. While talking about the match, Mumbai Indians opted to field first after winning the toss. Rajasthan Royals, fuelled by Jos Buttler's century, posted a huge total of 193 runs in 20 overs. In reply, Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma smacked fifties to bring MI close to the target but in the end, RR bowlers choked the opposition batters to win the match by 23 runs.
