On the 2nd ball of 19th over being bowled by Alzarri Joseph, Shashank was on strike for the first time in this IPL despite playing five matches. Joseph pitched the first delivery outside off at 150 KPS, and Shashank moved forward to loft the ball over extra-cover, scoring a four on the very first bowl he faced in the IPL.

Lockie Ferguson was brought on to bowl the ultimate over of the Sunrisers Hyderabad innings. On the 4th delivery of the over, Ferguson pitched the delivery short and outside off. Shashank shuffled across and smacked it over deep mid-wicket for a six on the bigger side of the ground.

On the next delivery, Ferguson bowled a low full-toss outside off and the batter anticipated the line, used Ferguson's pace and lapped it over fine-leg for an effortless six. On the last ball of the over and the innings, Ferguson bowled a delivery yet again full and outside off. Shashank lofted it for a six despite David Miller's best efforts.

The 30-year old from Chattisgarh didn't get to bat in the previous matches as his team was chasing in those matches and completed it without his need. However, when he finally got the chance to bat, smacked 25 runs in 6 balls with 1 four and 3 sixes, coming back unbeaten.
