As we approach the 3-match home ODI series against West Indies, team India is still struggling to find the perfect bowling attack. With Jasprit Bumrah seeming like the only strike bowlers for India - the team needs to try out their options and fix their bowling attack as they prepare for the 2023 50-over World Cup to be held in India.

Here is a list of the top 5 bowlers for India, who have taken the most wickets in ODIs in India since January 1st, 2016.

#5. Ravindra Jadeja (21 Wickets - 17 matches)

Number 5 on this list is India's ace all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja is famous for quickly getting through his overs, enhancing the team's over-rate. However, this left-arm orthodox spinner has succeeded in picking up crucial wickets in the middle overs. Jadeja has registered 21 wickets in the 17 ODIs he has played in India since 2016, 

Jadeja's best bowling figures in an inning read 4/34, in the 5th and final ODI against West Indies at Thiruvananthapuram in 2018. Jadeja was adjudged the man of the match for his 4-wicket haul as India restricted West Indies to 104 and chased down the target in 14.5 overs with 9 wickets in hand. 

#4. Yuzvendra Chahal (22 Wickets - 14 matches)

Yuzvendra Chahal comes next on the list with 22 wickets to his name in the 14 ODIs he has played in India since 2016. Chahal averages 29.63 in these matches, striking at 33.0. 

The right arm wrist spinner recorded his best bowling figure of 3/30 in this period. This performance came in the 1st ODI between India and Australia at Chennai in 2017. However, India lost this rain-affected match by 26 runs by the D/L method.

#3. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (27 Wickets - 20 matches)

Bhunveshwar Kumar was once a strike bowler for India, picking up wickets and troubling the batters with his swing in the early overs of the game. This medium pacer has registered 27 wickets in 20 ODIs he has played for India since 2016. 

Bhuvi's figures of 3/9 remain his best bowling figures in the last 5 years, came against Australia in the 2nd ODI at Kolkata in 2017. India was able to win that match by 50 runs.

#2. Kuldeep Yadav (36 Wickets - 24 matches)

India's premium slow arm left-arm spinner during 2018-19, Kuldeep Yadav, is the second-highest wicket-taker for India in home ODIs since 2016. Kuldeep has displayed a no. of match-winning performances during this period. 

The 27-year old picked up a hattrick in the 2nd ODI vs Australia in 2017, where Bhuvneshwar Kumar recorded 3/9. His best figures of 3/42 came twice, against West Indies at Mumbai in 2018 and Sri Lanka at Visakhapatnam in 2017. India managed to win both the matches by 224 runs and 8 wickets respectively. 

#1. Jasprit Bumrah (40 Wickets - 28 matches)

Probably the only regular bowler in the Indian ODI set-up, Jasprit Bumrah, has justified his regularity with his numbers, as he remains the highest Indian wicket-taker in home ODIs. The right arm pacer has recorded 40 wickets in the last 5 years in 28 matches, averaging 30.30.

The 28-year old bowler's best figures remain 4/35, which came in the 4th ODI between India and West Indies at Mumbai in 2018. After India put West Indies to bat first, were able to stop West Indies at 283/9 with Bumrah's 4 wickets. However, Indian batters failed to chase this target, losing the match by 43 runs.
