For England, spinners Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid picked up two wickets despite the dew. Pacer Chris Jordan also picked up 2 wickets. Liam Livingstone picked up 1 wicket but he was rather expensive as he gave away 34 runs in his quota of 4 overs. Chris Woakes picked up a wicket as well.

For Sri Lanka, Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 26 runs off 18 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Captain Dasun Shanaka scored 26 runs off 25 balls with 2 fours & 1 six while in-form star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga scored 34 runs off 21 balls with 3 fours & 1 six. These 3 batters held the crease for a while and at one point Hasaranga looked like he could finish the match but was caught out by an excellent team effort courtesy of Jason Roy & substitute fielder Sam Billings.
With this win, England has maintained their #1 spot in Group 2 in Cricket World Cup Standings in the Super 12 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. With 4 wins in 4 matches, they have confirmed their spot in the semi-finals and are strong contenders to lift the trophy.
In the first innings, Jos Buttler, the man in-form for England, smashed an explosive ton to power England in 163/4 against Sri Lanka. The opener scored 101 runs off 67 balls with 6 fours & 6 sixes, smashing all the bowlers equally. None of the other English batters could stay for long but 'Jos The Boss' was enough to take on the Lankan bowlers.
English skipper however looked to regain his form as he scored 40 runs off 36 balls with 1 four & 3 sixes. For Sri Lanka, star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga picked up 3 wickets, while Chameera picked up 1.
Earlier, Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss & opted to bowl first against England in the 29th match of the T20 World Cup 2021. This match is being played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.
