Defending 55 was never on the cards, but attempting it was always on which could be seen as West Indies put short leg on the first ball of England innings.

Jason Roy and Jos Buttler tried to play in the usual attacking way and added 21 runs in three overs before the former chipped one to the midwicket where Universe Boss grabbed an easy one.
Jonny Bairstow got out in the next over as Akeal Hossain picked his first wicket. Moeen Ali got run out to give Windies their third wicket. However, the moment of the night came in sixth over where Hosain picked a brilliant caught and bowled to get rid of Liam Livingstone.
However, 55 was never going to be enough as Eoin Morgan and Buttler finished the game in ninth over to start off the World Cup campaign with a comprehensive victory.
Earlier, after being asked to bat first, England got the first break in the 2nd over itself of Evin Lewis. Moeen Ali kept things tight throughout the powerplay as he finished with the figures of 2/17 and the score reading 33/4.
After Moeen, England brought in Rashid removed Andre Russell on his first ball with a straighter one. Rashid wrapped up West Indies on 55 and ended up with the figures of four wickets for just two runs in 2.2 overs.
Apart from six wickets among the spinners, Tymal Mills got two wickets while Chris Woakes and Chris Jordan got one each. Chris Gayle was the top scorer with 13 runs; none of the other batters crossed the double-digit mark.
