5. Avesh Khan - 10 crore INR

Avesh Khan cruised into the Indian team courtesy of excellent performance for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022, picking up 18 wickets in 13 games at an economy of 8.73. Avesh specializes in bowling at a pace of 140 kmph consistently, with a variety of short balls. He was a bright prospect and was given chances but an ordinary outing in Asia Cup 2022 ended his hopes to make it to the T20 World Cup 2022. In 15 T20Is, Avesh has taken 13 wickets at a high economy of 9.11.

4. Shardul Thakur - 10.75 crore INR

All-rounder Shardul Thakur, who was part of team India in T20 World Cup 2021. Thakur has been proven as a partnership breaker with the ball as well as playing handy knocks down the order. Thakur, who was acquired by Delhi Capitals for 10.75 crores INR in IPL mega auction, managed 15 wickets in the season at an economy of 9.79. However, Shardul failed to cement his place in the limited opportunities he received and Harshal Patel made it to the team ahead of the Capitals' all-rounder.

3. Shreyas Iyer - 12.25 crore INR

Kolkata Knight Riders captain, Shreyas Iyer, started the year off impressively with a pile of runs against Sri Lanka in T20Is. However, the batter failed to keep up with the form, as he scored 401 runs for KKR at a strike rate of 134.56. However, Deepak Hooda's performance took Iyer's place in the team as Hooda can bowl as well. Nonetheless, Shreyas Iyer will travel with team India as a backup player for the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

2. Deepak Chahar - 14 crore INR

Deepak Chahar has been among the best new-ball bowlers in India and was looked upon as someone who would solve the powerplay bowling woes for team India. However, after being acquired for 14 crore INR by Chennai Super Kings in the IPL Mega Auction, the all-rounder sustained an injury and missed the IPL. Chahar returned last month in the ODI series against Zimbabwe and due to a lack of games and field time, Harshal Patel made it to the 15-man squad ahead of Deepak.
