Experienced former Pakistani wicketkeeper batter has announced that he'll withdraw his name from participation in the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Akmal was dissatisfied with getting picked by the Peshawar Zalmi in the silver category and hence took this decision.
The 39-year-old Kamran Akmal was picked by the Peshawar Zalmi under the silver category in the PSL 2022 player draft. Talking about this draft on his YouTube channel, Kamran has requested the Peshwar franchise to release him. It'd be interesting to see how Peshawar reacts to this protest by Akmal.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, he said, 'Please consider releasing me because I don't deserve to be picked in this category. This would be better for the youngsters who are just starting out. I don't want Peshawar's sympathy just because I have represented them in six seasons.'
Furthermore, he said, 'I was surprised at my demotion from Platinum to the Gold category as my records are pretty good. I motivated myself to continue playing even after I was demoted from the Platinum to Gold category. However, even after performing so well for so many years, I'm getting demoted to an even lower category. Even though they're ready to pay me the amount fixed for Gold category players, this is more about my dignity than the money.'
