Coming into bat in the 20th over after Mumbai Indians lost half-centurion Suryakumar Yadav on the first delivery, the 34-year old showed why he is still a 'must-have' in any T20 team. Pat Cummins, bowling the 20th over, welcomed Pollard with a yorker outside off stump. Pollard played it towards long-on for a close double.

Cummins bowled the third delivery on the same line and length but missed the yorker, and Pollard powered a flat six over long-on with power. This spooked the Australian pacer and bowled the fourth delivery a wide. Cummins followed up with a slower delivery outside off which Pollard sent wide of square leg for another double.

The double-wicket taker for KKR bowled the fifth delivery short of length which was merely top-edged by Kieron Pollard for a 60-metre six over third-man. On the last delivery, Pollard sent yet another delivery over the third man with the top edge of his bat for a six. Pollard smacked 22 runs off 5 balls in the last over with 3 sixes and 2 doubles to take Mumbai Indians to a fightable and respectable total.
