WATCH: Nicholas Pooran's Excellent Grab To Dismiss Well-Set Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer scored 54 runs off 57 balls for team India in the first ODI against West Indies at Port of Spain, Trinidad.
WI vs IND - West Indies won the toss & opted to field first against India in the first ODI. However, this decision was proved wrong courtesy of a thunderous start by the Indian top-order batters. After a first-wicket partnership of 119 runs, Shreyas Iyer came on to bat at #3 and smacked a fifty.
Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill scored impactful fifties to shut the mouth of the critics while opening for team India. After Gill's run out, Shreyas Iyer seemed in good touch and it looked like the batter would definitely score a hundred in this match. However, his dismissal shocked all the spectators.

Iyer was batting on 54 runs. On the 5th delivery of the 36th over, Shreyas Iyer made room to smack a big shot over extra cover. At the time of impact, it looked as if the ball would clear the boundary. However, West Indian skipper Nicholas Pooran, fielding at deep extra cover, had other ideas.
Pooran jumped to his full height and some more at extra cover. The ball stuck in his vertical right and threw away the ball in delight after grabbing a stunner to dismiss the well-set batter. Iyer was dismissed after scoring 54 runs in 57 balls with 5 fours & 2 sixes.
.@ShreyasIyer15 is gone, caught by @nicholas_47. So disappointing, his scuffed shot.
