However, the ace spinner took on Shardul Thakur in the 5th over, smacking a four over mid-wicket. On the fourth delivery, Ashwin displayed a classy shot behind square on the offside for another boundary.

Off-spinner Axar Patel came to bowl the next over, which was the last over for the powerplay. Ashwin went on to smack the DC all-rounder for a four on the 3rd delivery followed by a six on the 4th delivery.

In the 13th over being bowled by Kuldeep Yadav, Ashwin smacked another six, this time over long-off for 87-metres. Chetan Sakariya came on to bowl the 14th over, and Ashwin smacked a boundary against the double-wicket taker on the 3rd delivery.

After scoring 50 runs in 38 balls and completing his maiden IPL fifty, Ashwin was caught out by David Warner as Mitchell Marsh picked his second wicket. Ashwin smacked 4 fours & 2 sixes while batting up the order.
