His performance in IPL 2008 helped Rajasthan Royals to title victory and earned him the nickname "Rockstar" by his captain Shane Warne.

After two good years with RR in IPL 2008 & 2009, Jadeja had to sit out of the IPL 2010 after being penalized for allegedly trying to negotiate terms with another franchise.

He came back in the next season for Kochi Tuskers Kerala. For IPL 2012, Jadeja's name was in Auction where Chennai Super Kings(CSK) bought him. But it wasn't a straight forward bid, CSK had to win the secret bid against Deccan Chargers to him in the squad.

When a team exhausts its spend limit and makes a final bid for a player, which is then matched by another franchise, 'Secret Bid' comes in where teams would submit their individual bids in a written form, which would be more than the final bidding amount.
