The lower order couldn't do much despite the likes of Sam Curran, Moeen Ali in it as England fell short by 66 runs to give India the first advantage in the three-match series.
Earlier, Shikhar Dhawan's 98 helped India set a strong total of 317. He got support from Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Krunal Pandya who hit half-centuries to take India past the 300-run mark.
