Ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, star players of South Africa - Quinton de Kock, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi discussed in an exclusive interview to Betway about the team's preparation for the mega-event. Here are the excerpts from their interview:
Star batsman Quinton de Kock who only plays white ball format now believes that his team had a good run last year. "We've done really well. It was a slow start when Mark Boucher came in but we knew it was going to be because we had to come up with a blueprint and a plan for how we want to go about thingss", he said.
South Africa's leading fast bowler Kagiso Rabada open's the T20 format game which he believes to be a batter's game. He also laid emphasis on how important it is to be creative in this format as a bowler. He said during the interview," T20 is a batter’s game. Bringing in things like two new balls, it's all to encourage higher scores. As a bowler, you have to find a way to become successful. Bowlers around the world are all talking about smaller boundaries and flat pitches and bigger bats. But it doesn't help to complain! These days, there are so many tactics, and so many ploys that bowlers use to keep up. You have to be creative.
Explosive batsman David Miller looks very positive about the team's performance and believes that the recent series win in England will add up to the confiedence. He said," We have been building up the squad for some time now and everyone's understanding their roles. We’re playing really, really well as a team. Individual performance is obviously crucial and the lads are putting their hands up when they need to. But as a team, we’ve bought into what we want to do and what works. It was fantastic to captain the team to a series victory in England. To win in England has been a challenge for us.
Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi on the other hand has a lot of faith in the young players. He said, "We've got a lot of young players in our team, too, and if we are putting in the performances with these guys now, once they settle into their roles I can only imagine what's going to happen. So we’re in a pretty good space."We need to not let external influences come into the camp. A lot of things get said about us before tournaments, and we carry this tag around, and that can affect the way we play", he added.
