R Ashwin and Virat Kohli paired up to add 96 runs for the seventh wicket to keep England hanging at the end of the second session on day 3 at Chennai. India now leads England by 416 runs.
Virat Kohli missed out on a well-deserved century after getting struck in front off Moeen Ali's delivery. Kohli faced 149 balls for his 62 and looked in control in each of them. He and Ashwin combined to pull India out of misery when they got reduced to 106/6 before lunch.
Ashwin, on the other hand, is still at the crease and is the top-scorer for India in this innings. He has scored 68 so far and hit nine fours.
Ishant Sharma is on the other end supporting Ashwin as India extends their lead past 400.
