After India lost two wickets - KL Rahul (6) and Virat Kohli (0) inside the first three overs, Rohit Sharma held the reign of attacking as he kept taking on the Sri Lankan bowlers to keep up the run rate.
Suryakumar Yadav played the anchor and a role he is seldom seen playing in, scoring 34 runs off 29 balls. Surya etched a partnership of 97 runs in 58 balls, in which Rohit smacked 68 runs off just 36 balls. The Indian skipper was finally dismissed in the 13th over by Chamika Karunaratne after scoring 72 runs off just 41 balls, with 5 fours & 4 sixes while striking at 175.61.
For Sri Lanka, the bowlers displayed an impressive performance as they managed to keep the score below 190 despite Rohit's tremendous knock. Left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka picked up 3 wickets including cleaning up Virat Kohli for a duck, Karunaratne and Dasun Shanaka picked up 2 wickets each while Maheesh Theekshana managed 1 wicket.
Earlier, Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss & opted to bowl first against India in the 3rd match of Super 4 stage in Asia Cup 2022. This match is being played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.
