The Indian team was on top of the Australian batsmen on the first day of the second test match at Melbourne on Saturday. Australia was bowled out for 195 as Jasprit Bumrah took four wickets. R Ashwin took three wickets including that of Steve Smith while Debutant Mohammad Siraj took two wickets. 

India, in reply, lost Mayank Agarwal in the first over of the innings. India ended the day on 36/1 with Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara being the overnight batsman.
