The Indian team has come on to bat after bowling out Australia for 338 in the second session. The two new opening partners - Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill started off well.
Gill got off to the mark with a glorious straight drive off Mitchell Starc. Rohit, too, looked at ease despite returning to cricket after almost two months.
Earlier, Steve Smith helped Australia cross the 300-run mark with his classy aggressive knock of 131. The brittle Australian batting line up was exposed today after Ravindra Jadeja broke the 100 run partnership between Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith. Labuschagne got out on 91.
Smith, with no other option left, had to play his shots to get the team to maximum runs. He added 23 runs with Pat Cummins, 32 with Starc, and 22 with the last batsman Josh Hazlewood before getting run out by Ravindra Jadeja's direct throw.
Jadeja got four wickets including - Labuschagne, Mathew Wade, Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon. Jasprit Bumrah and Navdeep Saini got two wickets each.
Brief Score - 26/0 in 9 Overs (Shubhman Gill - 14*, Rohit Sharma - 11*)
