Aus vs Ind, 3rd Test: Rohit And Gill Shine As Openers, Records Made During Their 50 Run Partnership
Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma and Shubhman Gill, playing his second test match, are opening for the first together in a test match and they have already made their mark as a pair.
The pair crossed the 50 runs in their partnership in the 19th over. This is the first time after 14 innings that India has made 50+ runs for the first wicket. The last time it happened was back in 2019 when Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal scored 317 runs against South Africa in Vizag.
This is also the first time after more than 10 years that an Indian opening pair has lasted more than 20 overs in a test outside Asia. The last time it happened was against South Africa in Centurion, 2010 when Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir lasted 29.3 overs.
