AUS vs SA 1st Test: At one of the greenest surfaces in Gabba, visitors South Africa batters had a real hard time as they were bowled out for just 99 runs in the 2nd innings, and hence were All-Out twice within the first two days of the first Test.
Skipper Pat Cummins picked up 5-wickets in the 2nd innings and enforced a very early full stop on the Proteas batters. Pacers Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland picked up 2 wickets each while Nathan Lyon managed 1 wicket.
Khaya Zondo was the top scorer for the visitors as he scored an unbeaten 36 runs, while Temba Bavuma contributed 29 runs. Only one other South African (Keshav Maharaj - 16) was able to reach the double-digit mark.
Earlier, Aussie skipper Pat Cummins invited the Proteas to bat first after winning the toss. South Africa were bowled out for 152 runs and Australia managed 218 runs, building a lead of 66 runs before getting bowled out in the first session on Day 2. Australia now needs 34 runs to win the first Test. This match is being played at The Gabba, Brisbane.
