Bangladesh's ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has injured his left thigh while fielding the first test against West Indies on Friday.
Shakib looked in discomfort after bowling six overs and went off the field. The all-rounder scored a handy 68 in the first innings while batting.
He got picked for the first Test Match after clearing his scans for the groin injury he suffered a week back in the third ODI against Windies. The BCB official said this was a new injury in the left thigh.
''Having recovered from his previous groin injury ahead of the first Test and successfully managing to bat in the Bangladesh first innings as well as send down six overs, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has suffered a strain in a different region of his left thigh while fielding on day two,'' said BCB on Friday.
The all-rounder is currently being treated for the injury after going for the scans.
''The injury was confirmed by an MRI scan this morning. The BCB medical team will continue to treat and review his progress over the course of the first Test."
