Chasing 160 runs to win, Brisbane lost 3 batters – Josh Brown (5), Usman Khawaja (14) and Marnus Labuschagne (6) inside the powerplay. However, batting at #4, Matt Renshaw held one end as he began smacking Stars' bowlers.
Renshaw was dropped once and a run-out opportunity was missed as well, the 26-year-old took full advantage of this. With 4 required off the last delivery, Renshaw scooped the delivery for a four towards the third man and won the match for his team. Renshaw remained unbeaten on 90 runs in 56 balls, laced with 6 fours & 4 sixes.
For Melbourne, Liam Hatcher and Adam Zampa picked up 2 wickets each while Nathan Coulter-Nile and Clint Hinchliffe managed 1 wicket each. In the first innings, Nick Larkin scored 58 runs in 36 balls to take Melbourne to 159/7 in 20 overs.
Michael Neser was the top bowler for Brisbane as he grabbed 4 wickets for just 25 runs in his 4 overs. Spencer Johnson, James Bazley and Matt Renshaw registered 1 wicket each.
