Joe Root slammed his 22nd Test hundred as England scored 314/5 in the 2nd session on day 3 at Lord's.
Resuming the session at 216/3, Root and Jonny Bairstow added 121 runs for the fourth wicket. The 2nd session saw Indian bowlers coming up with a short ball strategy and it worked as they got Bairstow out for 57 after he tried to hook one and got the top edge straight to Indian captain Virat Kohli at the slips.
Jos Buttler then joined the record-breaking Root at the crease as two further added 58 runs for the fifth wicket. Ishant Sharma got the breakthrough for India as he swung one into Buttler, who missed the ball that went on to hit the stumps.
Moeen Ali has since then played and missed a few but has made sure he's there with his captain, who is currently on 132.
Brief Score:
England - 314/5 in 98 overs (Joe Root - 132*)
