After a wicketless 1st session, New Zealand bowlers hit back to take four England wickets in the 2nd session of the first day's play at Edgbaston.
Matt Henry broke the 72-run opening stand as he got Dominic Sibley caught behind for 35 and Neil Wagner removed Zak Crawley for a duck in the very next over.
Captain Joe Root too couldn't survive the fiery spell of Henry and edged one to the keeper after scoring just four.
Ollie Pope and Rory Burns then put on a 42 run stand to steady things down. Pope tried to go after Ajaz Patel's half-tracker but it edged it to Tom Blundell, again.
Burns and Dan Lawrence survived until the Tea was called, adding 25 runs from 38 balls.
Brief Score:
England - 152/4 in 56 overs (Rory Burns - 73; Matt Henry - 2/36)
