SCO vs NZ - Courtesy of Finn Allen's thunderous ton, New Zealand handed a hefty 68-run defeat to Scotland in the 1st T20I.
Chasing a target of 226, Scotland got off to a great start as openers Geroge Munsey (28) and Calum MacLeod (33) added 62 runs for the first wicket. However, Ish Sodhi grabbed the opening wicket in the 9th over and from thereon, Kiwis managed to pick regular wickets.
Only Chris Greaves showed some fight in the Scottish middle order as he scored 31 runs off 22 balls. For New Zealand, spinner Ish Sodhi picked up 4 wickets, captain Mitchell Santner picked up 2 wickets while Lockie Ferguson and Ben Sears grabbed 1 wicket each as Scotland were halted to 157/8 in 20 overs.
In the first innings, opener Finn Allen blasted 101 runs off 56 balls with 8 fours & 6 sixes and powered New Zealand to a total of 225/5 in 20 overs. Martin Guptill also contirbuted with 40 runs off 31 balls.
Earlier, Scotland captain Richie Berrington won the toss & opted to field first against New Zealand in the 1st T20I. This match was played at Grange Cricket Club, Edinburgh.
