In the 2nd match of IPL 2021, Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals, DC defeated CSK by 7 wickets. Shikhar Dhawan was adjudged man of the Match for his 85 from 54 balls. After receiving the award, Dhawan said "I really enjoyed my batting. Was enjoying the way I was hitting the ball. I have to innovate a few shots and I enjoy taking up challenges. I was playing the ball close to the body. I knew my game plan."

About his partner Prithvi Shaw's performance he said, "Prithvi was batting really well. He carried on with his form from Vijay Hazare.It is tremendous to watch Prithvi. He played some effortless shots. So good and so happy for him as he didn't have a good IPL last time around. "
