Captain Joe Root and new batsman Ben Stokes continued to make merry on a flat track as England scores 355/3 at the end of session 1 of the second day at Chennai
England resumed their innings at their overnight score of 263/3, with Root on 128* and Ben Stokes being the new batsman in.
Fast bowlers Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah did get a bit of seam movement in the first hour of the play but didn't get much help as the pitch played true for the batsmen.
After playing out the first hour, Root and Stokes started to attack spinners - Shahbaz Nadeem and Washington Sundar. Stokes did survive two difficult chances and a run-out and went on to score his fifty.
Joe Root remained unbeaten at 156 and Stokes on 63* as the English batsmen went back to the pavilion dominating the first session.
