Ind vs Eng, 1st Test: Root, Sibley Dominates Day 1 As Indian Bowlers Struggle
England captain Joe Root and opener Dominic Sibley dominated the Indian bowlers on Day 1 of the first test match at Chennai.
Root smashed his 20th century which came in his 100th test match. He remained unbeaten at the end of the day at 128. Sibley looked comfortable during his 87 run inning. He got LBW on the last ball of the day. Root and Sibley added 200 runs for the third wicket.
Indian bowlers struggled at the flat day 1 pitch and could only take three wickets. Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets in his first test match in India while R Ashwin picked one.
Earlier, England captain Joe Root won the toss and opted to bat first.
