Joe Root continued to frustrate Indian bowlers as England scored 454/4 at the end of Tea on Day 2.
India finally had their first breakthrough of the day in the form of Ben Stokes who got out attempting a slog sweep against Shahbaz Nadeem and found Cheteshwar Pujara at the boundary. Stokes scored 82 and added 124 runs along with Joe Root.
New batsman Olie Pope dug in with Root as the pair continued to play comfortably at a flat pitch. Root came down the track to smash the ball over long-on to bring up his fifth double century.
England scored 99 runs in the second session while losing one wicket.
