IND vs NZ: Team India have been heavily fined for maintaining a slow over-rate in the 1st ODI against New Zealand in Hyderabad. India have been fined 60 per cent of their match fees for the same in the 1st ODI played on January 18th (Wednesday).
Match referee Javagal Srinath ruled that team India were 3 overs short of their target after the allowances were taken into consideration as well. With respect to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are fined 20% of their match fee for every over their side is short of bowling in the time allotted.

There was no need for a formal hearing as Indian captain Rohit Sharma accepted the offence levelled by on-field umpires, the third umpire and the fourth umpire.
In the match, India posted 349 runs while batting first after Shubman Gill smacked a double ton. India reduced New Zealand to 131/6 before Michael Bracewell came out all guns blazing, smashing 140 runs in 78 balls. In the end, India managed to clinch the thriller by 12 runs after bowling out New Zealand n 337 in 49.2 overs.
