IND vs SL: Kuldeep Yadav yet again made the most of the opportunity he received and picked up 3 wickets as India restricted Sri Lanka to 215/10 in the 2nd ODI.
Mohammed Siraj struck with the opening wicket in the 6th over of the innings, dismissing Avishka Fernando for 20 runs off 17 balls. From thereon, debutant Nuwanidu Fernando and Kusal Mendis stabilized the innings with a partnership of 73 runs for the 2nd wicket.
However, Kuldeep Yadav removed Nuwanidu in his very first over. The spinner went on to dismiss Charith Asalanka (15) and in-form Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka (2) to reduce Sri Lanka to 126/6 in 25 overs. For Sri Lanka, Nuwanidu was the top scorer with his knock of 50 runs.
Kusal Mendis (34) and Dunith Wellalage (32) also contributed decently but failed to score big on a batting-friendly pitch. For India, Kuldeep Yadav & Mohammed Siraj picked up 3 wickets each while Umran Malik managed 2 wickets. Axar Patel also registered a wicket to his name as Sri Lanka were bowled out in 39.4 overs.
Earlier, Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss & opted to bowl first against India in the 2nd ODI. India are currently leading the 3-match series 1-0. This match is being played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
