Team India's batting lineup showed up in style as openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave an explosive start adding 143 runs in the first 20 overs. Gill was dismissed after scoring 70 runs while Rohit Sharma registered 83 runs. Virat Kohli scored his 2nd consecutive ton in ODIs, smashing 113 runs. All the batters maintained a strike rate of above 100 and put up a majestic total of 373 on the board.
Mohammed Siraj provided two wickets in the first 6 overs as Sri Lanka came out to chase 374, which set the game up for India perfectly. Umran Malik was the top wicket-taker with 3 wickets to his name, while Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya and Yuzvendra Chahal managed 1 wicket each.
Opener Pathum Nissanka scored 72 runs as Sri Lanka lost wickets at the other end while chasing a huge total as the rest of the top order failed. None of the bowlers managed to control the flow of runs as no one maintained an economy of below 6.
