Kolkata Knight Riders while chasing a paltry total of 138 set by the Delhi Capitals, with some difficulty managed to win in the last over thriller. With this win, KKR has qualified for the finals and will face Chennai Super Kings on Friday for the title.
For KKR, openers Venkatesh Iyer (55) and Shubman Gill (46) set the tone and since then, it was all too easy for KKR. But then KKR lost 7 wickets within a space of 35 runs but the target just proved to be below par. Rahul Tripathi (12*) smashed a six on the second last ball to take his team into the finals.
For DC, Norjte, Ashwin & Rabada picked up two wickets each, while Avesh Khan picked up 1.
In the first innings, DC managed to post 135/ against KKR. For DC, Shikhar Dhawan (36) stayed on the crease till the 15th over and looked but couldn't get in the hitting mood and finish for the team with a bigger score. Shreyas Iyer played well for his 30* off 27 balls and take the team to a respectable total. For KKR, Varun Chakravarthy picked up 2 wickets while Mavi & Ferguson got 1 each.
Earlier, KKR Captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and elected to bowl first against KKR in the 2nd Qualifier Match of the IPL 2021. The match is being played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.
