Mumbai Indians courtesy of an excellent display of batting by Kieron Pollard (87*) defeated Chennai Super Kings on the last ball of the match. MI while chasing 219, had a good opening partnership of 71 between Rohit Sharma (35) and de Kock (38). However, after losing 3 wickets in a span of 3 overs, Mumbai was on the backfoot.
But then, Pollard smashed 87* off just 34 balls, hitting 6 fours and 8 sixes. 16 runs were required off the last over, and Pollard won the match on the final ball. For CSK, Sam Curran picked up 3 wickets.
In the first innings, CSK with the help of its aggressive batting smashed 218/4. Ambati Rayudu smashed 72* runs off 27 balls, hitting 4 fours & 7 sixes to take the CSK score above the par total. After losing in-form opener Gaikwad in the first over, Faf du Plessis (50) & Moeen Ali (58) constructed a partnership of 108 runs in 10.1 overs.
