In the expected high scoring thriller at Wankhede, Punjab Kings managed to stay on the top despite the opposition captain Sanju Samson's century. He became the first player to score a century on his captaincy debut. Samson, along with Buttler(25), Dube(23) & Riyan Parag (25) kept the required run maintained consistently and were looking in control, however, Arshdeep Singh for Punjab Kings was able to keep his nerves and with 5 required off the last ball, he got the wicket of Samson at 119.
