Chennai Super King's in-form openers - Gaikwad & du Plessis helped and laid the foundation for a CSK win against Sunrisers Hyderabad while chasing 134. CSK became the first team to qualify for the playoff in IPL 2021 season. Gaikwad scored 45 runs off 38 balls with 4 fours & 2 sixes & du Plessis scored 41 off 36 with 3 fours & 2 sixes, constructing a partnership of 75 runs in 10.1 overs. Dhoni (14*) finished off in vintage style with a six.

However, Holder got 2 wickets in the 16th over to slow down CSK's chase but ultimately, the target proved to be lesser than required. Holder finished with 3 wickets while Rashid Khan picked up the wicket of Moeen Ali. 

In the first innings, CSK restricted SRH at 134/7Josh Hazlewood picked up 3 wickets, giving away just 24 runs in 4 overs. Other than him, Bravo picked up 2 wickets for 17 runs in his 4 overs. For SRH, Wriddhiman Saha was the highest scorer with 44, but that too came off 46 balls.

Earlier, CSK Captain MS Dhoni won the toss and elected field first against SRH in the 44th Match of the IPL 2021. The match is being played at Sheikh Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.
