Tilak Varma scored an unbeaten 34 runs in 32 balls with 4 fours to help MI reach the target in 14.5 overs. None of the other batters managed to cross the 20-run mark. 

For CSK, Mukesh Choudhary picked up 3 wickets while Simarjeet Singh managed 1 wicket inside the powerplay, but young Tilak stabilized the inning and chased down the target with 5 wickets in hand. Moeen Ali also picked up 1 wicket. 

In the first innings, Mumbai Indians' bowlers pulled off an incredible bowling performance, restricting defending champions Chennai Super Kings to 97 runs in 16 overs in a 'do-or-die' match.
