Contributions from Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Tim David helped Mumbai Indians score 177/6 in the first inning against Gujarat Titans at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. 

On being asked to bat first, MI openers smashed 74 runs in 7.4 overs for the opening wicket including 63 runs inside the powerplay. Rohit was the aggressor as he scored 43 off 28 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes. Ishan continued with the momentum and scored 45 off 29 balls including five fours and a six. 

Gujarat came back in the middle overs courtesy of Rashid Khan's 2/24 in four overs and support act from the rest of the bowlers. With MI's middle order not contributing much, Tim David had the responsibility to give the team a proper finish and he did just that, smacking 44 from 21 balls with the help of four sixes and two fours.
