On this day, back in 1983, India won its first-ever World Cup by defeating West Indies in the Final at Lord's, led by Kapil Dev. 

Kris Srikanth top-scored with 38 runs while Madan Lal and Mohinder Amarnath took three wickets as India won the match by 43 runs. Amarnath was adjudged player of the match for scoring 26 runs and a match-winning spell of 3/12.
