Pakistan & Hong Kong will face off against each other to stay alive and qualify for the Super Four stage in the Asia Cup 2022 on September 2nd (Friday).
After getting defeated by India in the Group A encounter, both Pakistan and Hong Kong will face each other in a do-or-die match in Asia Cup 2022 on September 2, Friday.
In the first match, Pakistan lost to India in an ultimate thriller by five wickets. Pakistan batters, who are dependent on the top trio fell early which caused the team to bundle down to 147 runs.
Opener batter Rizwan top scored with 43 runs in 42 balls, and Iftikhar Ahmed (28 runs) became the second highest scorer. Star batter & Pak skipper Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman went down to 10-10 runs each.
Defending a low total against India, Pakistani bowlers maintained some grit after they took top wickets in quick succession. Mohammed Nawaz (3/33 in 3.4 overs) and Naseem Shah (2/27) were the only bowlers to scalp wickets.
Whereas, week Hong Kong also capitulated against the world’s no.1 T20 side India in the second match of group A. Hong Kong, after winning the toss chose to bowl but they were unable to show any fight with the bowl. Only two Hong Kong bowlers Ayush Shukla (1/29) and Mohammad GhaZanfar (1/19 in 2 overs) were able to take wickets.
Chasing a huge total of 192 runs against the quality and young Indian bowling line-up, Hong Kong only managed to score 152/5 in 20 overs. Babar Hayat (41 runs in 35 balls) and Kinchit Shah (30 runs in 28 balls) were the top run-getters for the team.
