SL vs AFG: After a disappointing performance in the 1st ODI, Sri Lankan bowlers made a comeback in the 2nd ODI to bowl out Afghanistan for 228 runs in 48.2 overs.
Afghanistan lost opener Ibrahim Zadran (10) early on in the 6th over, but his partner Rahmanullah Gurbaz stood his ground as he scored 68 runs in 73 balls with 4 fours & 4 sixes.
Along with Rahmat Shah, Gurbaz etched a partnership of 113 runs for the 2nd wicket. Rahmat contributed with 58 runs off 78 balls. However, once the partnership was broken, Sri Lanka grabbed wickets in a flurry.
Only former captain Mohammad Nabi displayed some fight with his 41 off 34 runs, but no one else on the other end could take the team to a good total. For Sri Lanka, Kasun Rajitha grabbed 3 wickets while Maheesh Theekshana and Lahiru Kumara managed 2 wickets each. Wanindu Hasaranga and Dhananjaya de Silva also managed 1 wicket each.
Earlier, Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss & opted to bat first against Sri Lanka in the 2nd ODI. Afghanistan is currently leading the 3-match ODI series 1-0. This match is being played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele.
