Australian bowlers with an above-par performance & sloppy batting from South Africa were able to restrict the Proteas at 118/9 in the first match of Super 12 stage of T20 World Cup 2021. For Australia, all the 5 bowlers used chipped in with wickets - Hazlewood, Zampa & Mitchell Starc picked up 2 wickets each while Maxwell & Cummins picked up 1 wicket each. 

For South Africa, the only batter who looked somewhat comfortable in front of the Aussie bowling attack was Aiden Markram, who scored 40 off 36 balls with 3 fours & a six. None of the other batters were able to cross the 20 run mark. 

Earlier, Australian captain Aaron Finch won the toss & elected to field first against South Africa in the 13th match of the T20 World Cup and the first match of the Super 12 stage. This match is being played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
