Virat Kohli during the post-match presentation said that the win against England in 1st ODI was the sweetest in the recent past.
"This is one of our sweetest wins in the recent past. This one is right up there with any other. Getting nine wickets so quickly is outstanding. To come back into the game the way they did is brilliant. I'm a really, really proud man right now. Team showed great character and intensity," Kohli said.
The Indian captain admitted that the Indian total of 317 was subpar and the cluster of wickets in between stopped them from going to the 350 run mark.
"Yes, could be (on the question on subpar total). When I was batting, I told Shikhar that between 31-40 I'd look to take the bowlers on. We lost a few wickets and there was a brief pushback but Krunal and KL then took it away. If I had stayed with Shikhar around that 40 over period we could've got 350. England hit some amazing shots, and scores will be high scoring moving forward, and we'll look to get bigger scores moving forward."
